India’s first certified Architectural Ironmongery Specialists

In depth knowledge about Hardware (Ironmongery) Fittings and their proper selection in a wide range of building applications is still hard to find in India. Often only cursory knowledge of this range of products leads to the selection of wrong and substandard products which later leads to malfunction.

From the very beginning of the establishment of Häfele India, we have employed experienced Hardware Specialists to provide our customers with a comprehensive hardware consultancy service. Häfele India is the first company to offer free hardware schedules which are generated from the customer’s plans which provide them with detailed lists of carefully selected hardware fittings that are suited to their building applications. Initially these schedules were somewhat simple but in the last few years architects and designers, are using hardware fittings in more and more complex applications. This meant for Häfele that we also had to raise the bar for our own specialists.

When looking for formal and professional hardware training there was only one place to go to. The “Guild of Architectural Ironmongers” (GAI) from the UK, offers a comprehensive 3 year course on the understanding and proper selection of hardware fittings. More importantly the course focuses on the practical application of this knowledge to specific functional challenges in a building. The GAI course is one of its kinds in Europe and widely regarded as the only professional qualification in the field of Architectural hardware. The Guild’s technical representatives are invited on a European wide level to consult on Building Regulations, European Standards, Legislation and the like.

Häfele has been offering the GAI course to employees in the Hardware Scheduling Dept. as well as Product Managers and Project Sales Consultants. Finally after years of hard work, Häfele is glad to announce that our first 2 employees (Vivek Gokhale and Rajeev Pavaratty) have passed the rigorous exams and have qualified to become India’s first Diploma Holders of the GAI course. Häfele is now the only company in the country which can offer this level of technical competence to our customers.

Training continues to be one of the most important tools of Häfele in order to set ourselves apart from the competition. For this purpose we have established a full in-company training program through which every single employee has to pass before they meet their first customer.
